When do I need a building permit?
Building permits must be obtained any time a homeowner is building a new structure, adding on, or doing an update to an existing structure on their property. This includes sidewalks, roofs, siding, windows, electrical, plumbing, etc. The cost of a building permit is $20
Are dogs required to be licensed?
Yes. Dog Licenses are issued at any time throughout the year. Please send the following information to the Village Clerk: Dog Name, Color, Breed, Sex, Vet Proof of Rabies Vaccination, Date Rabies Given, Manufacturer Serial #, & Date of Rabies Expiration Date.
*Fees for Dogs: Male or Female $10/Spayed or Neutered $5
**Sauk County Ordinance 27.05 requires all dogs over 5 months be licensed.

How do I rent one of the Village's Parks/Fields/Shelters?

Where can I report issues such as potholes, sign damage, inoperable street lights etc…?
Please call the Village Hall at 608-522-5700 and the issue will be relayed to the Public Works Department.
When are Village General Board Meetings?
Village Board Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the Month unless otherwise changed due to a conflict. General Board meets at 7:15 PM
What can I do with my yard waste?
The Village of Rock Springs does not have a place to go with yard waste at this time.
Does the Village pick up brush?
No
Who do I contact with a complaint about my garbage service?
All complaints can be directed to Village Hall and they will be forwarded to our contracted provider.
When is garbage collected?
Garbage pick-up is normally scheduled on Friday mornings. Please have garbage and recycling to the curb no later than 7:00 AM. If a holiday falls during the week, pick up for that week will be Saturday.
Why hasn’t my television or other electronic item been picked up from the curb during garbage collection?
Homeowners are responsible for disposal of these items at an authorized location.
How do I get new water/sewer service?
If you are a new resident or renter, please contact the Village Hall with mailing address information and move in date.
Who do I call regarding a water leak?
If water is leaking on the Village side of the curb shut-off, contact Village Hall at 608-522-5700. Water leaks occurring on the residential side of the curb shut-off are the responsibility of the homeowner. The Village will be happy to assist repairs to service lines by shutting off water during repair efforts.
What do I do if I have a sewer back up?
As with water issues, the Village only repairs damage to main line sewers. Homeowners are responsible for any and all service tile issues.
Does the Village flush fire hydrants?
Yes. This typically occurs several times throughout the year. Homeowners may experience discolored water during hydrant flushing. If this occurs, let your water taps run until water is clear. The Village does their best to notify water customers of hydrant flushing ahead of time. You will find these notices on the bottom of your Water/Sewer bill.
Why is my water bill so high?
Interior water leaks, especially leaking toilets, can consume a considerable amount of water. A leaking toilet can consume several hundred gallons of water depending on the severity of the leak. Leak repairs are the responsibility of the homeowner.
Can I pay a bill online?
Yes. We contract with Payment Service Network for online payments. We accept several forms of payment. Utility Bills are the primary use of online payments. Please locate the link on the website.
